about

Reaching a numerical milestone of performances seems like an opportunity to look back over the entire run, taking stock, and pointing out significant happenings or trends. I don't feel inclined toward that, though. This performance felt good--the audience was engaged and supportive. Music was present. This felt like another step in the series of performances, and I'm thinking ahead to the future.

There is, though, a tip of the hat to the series history, in my using the PureSalem Mendiola, the guitar I used for the first one of these in March 2020. There are timbres of French horn and other low brass, with flute here and there as well. There's a strong sense of breath in recent pieces.

This week's improvisation is dedicated to the visual art of Catherine Lee. Thank you for listening, and for joining me on this journey so far!
