about

Here it is: the 100th pandemic-era performance. At this point, the whole series is 660 pieces lasting a total of 4.3 days. Each week's gone from about an hour to almost an hour and a half. The Max/MSP patch has grown from four to eight delay lines, and I've changed reverb impulses, tone-shaping plugins, and various modulators. The performances are on Twitch now, though I did the first five or six months on my own IceCast server. (Twitch makes it easier to see how many people are listening, and to interact with them.)

This evening, I used the guitar I started the series with, having completed a kind of cycle. Some of them use longer tones and end up more dense, investigating slow changes in texture and timbre, while the last couple of pieces feel like a release from that approach, into something more spacious. Both approaches have their place, and the relationship between them felt like a journey.

We've made it this far together, and I'm glad you're here listening. Thank you!

This week's performance is dedicated to the work of Judy Chicago.
