about

Live ambient improvisations initially streamed over the internet. These are gentle pieces for anyone who needs something non-insistent--a musical environment for letting go of stress. During the performances, I'm thinking of anyone who might be listening, and thinking of a connection of some kind with the music.

Performing this one was...odd. I'd included both a tremolo pedal and a new granular processor in the Max/MSP patch, and somewhere in the chain, it became a bit noisy and difficult to monitor--in the playing, low notes were hard to hear, but they're really present in the recording. (Most likely it's how I wired in the new granular processing.)

Performative struggles aside...this one's really still, though there's a more rhythmic development in the second half of track three. These pieces seem like they want to hang out and be quiet, so the titles are all names from a list of the most quiet places on Earth. (I haven't been to any of them...yet.) I'd recommend just putting this on and drifting for a while.

Instruments: PureSalem Mendiola (1 & 4), Univox Effie in Fahey C tuning (2 & 3), Reuss RF-01, custom tremolo, Vox Wah, Moyo volume, Max/MSP quad delay with granular processor and buffers.
