about

Despite technical challenges (corrupted drive, file recovery underway, split power cable for my audio interface), I was able to perform this week, back on pedal steel. The first few pieces seem to develop more quickly than usual, but that's relative--there's still a very low BPM here.

Regular listeners were present for this one, as well as a group of raiders, and the greater number of listeners seemed to increase my focus on the music, as well as trust in each piece's amount of silence.

Sometimes we need noise and information density, and sometimes we need the space of silence. I hope this provides some silence for you. I also hope you're well, and taking care of yourself.

This week's improvisation is dedicated to the work of Ana Montiel anamontiel.com, using titles of some of her work. The second piece's title implied that I should reverse that track, so this also includes a companion piece, which I've added here as a bonus track. Thank you for listening!
