about

Previous weeks' improvisations found me thinking of other places, travel, nature, and escaping routine. Now isn't the time for escape. Reality is right here. It's brutal and terrifying.

I'm not going to reflect the brutality directly. There's already plenty of it; we don't need more, at least from me. As the person creating this, what I'm thinking and feeling is going to inform what I do. In improvising, I wanted to be honest about the presence of sadness and worry, while also trying to bend my action toward giving the listener something helpful.

There may be positive effects in some listeners from these aesthetic decisions, but aesthetics aren't going to help anyone who's been arrested and brutalized for protesting. To that end, I'm donating any revenue from Bandcamp in June to a different bail bond fund each week, with a match. This first week of June, it'll be Pittsburgh's Bukit Bail Fund (bukitbailfund.org), with others to follow.

If you'd like to donate directly to a bail bond fund, I'll recommend consulting the list at bailfunds.github.io.
