about

There's a hint of the seasons changing here, with cooler evenings, shorter days just starting to become obvious, the beginning of the academic year. Summer hasn't let go yet, but change is coming soon. It's easy to think that we as conscious people are somehow separate from that, but feelings and energy levels are closely tied to the environment, or at least they are for me. Light, wind, air...it makes a difference. Right now, it feels as though a kind of burden is beginning to lift.

This improvisation is a return to the Moog Guitar and its spectral harmonics. These pieces have some much longer loops than some other weeks, with less of an emphasis on the high harmonics, but still that glassy quality that the Moog brings. It's a real looking-up-at-the-night-sky instrument for me. Ideal for contemplating changes in seasons and changes in other realms.

This week's performance is dedicated ot the work of Wolfgang Laib (art21.org/artist/wolfgang-laib/).

Thank you for listening!
