about

This week's earlier darkness and cold weather bring a different feeling to this performance--it's easier to have an interior focus on the room and the music, as well as the distant audience. This evening was a return to the pedal steel, though it feels a bit different from the other recent pedal steel pieces--more steel-like glissandos with pedal and slide, and there's a bassoon-like timbre at the end of the second piece (from the Taylor ebony slide). These had a strong follow-where-the-music-leads quality, rather than springing from an idea, and there's definitely an emotional vibe to them.

Wherever you are, I hope you're safe and doing well. This collection is dedicated to the work of Mark Tobey. Thank you for listening!
