about

A regular practice like this performance series...is both predictable and unpredictable. Monday nights have a familiar rhythm of actions and practices, but there have been gradual changes and trends over time. (It's worth going back to some early ones to compare--many of those seem more raw.)

There are also shorter-term changes--maybe one week I'm very focused, and another I'm less so. Maybe I'm tired, or maybe I'm feeling very directed toward a goal, or have a plan to make the performance different from others. This week, I was tired, and let the music direct where it wanted to go, without trying too hard to nudge it in a particular way. The result...seems rather organic. It's Music that wants to manifest itself. It wants to be heard.

Wherever you are, I hope you're well and taking good care of yourself.

This performance is dedicated to the work of Louise Nevelson. Thank you for listening!
