I wasn't sure if I was going to keep doing the weekly performances after reaching 16 of them--that's a lot of hours, and it's a nice number at which to stop. (Power of 2, square of 4, looks nice on the Bandcamp discography page...) But with us heading toward lockdown and isolation again, it seemed like a good idea to keep up the rhythm of these, to keep my weekly appointment with music, and to be there for connection for anyone who should want to listen.

I'd been under the impression that I was going to do something noisier and heavier for this week, so I reached for the Moderne and Reuss RF-01. During the act of improvisation, plans and intentions set us off on a certain direction, but in my experience there are situational energies that, like the wind and current, have the final say. Pretty much immediately, this performance was a lot more gentle than I'd thought it would be. There are some parts that use more minor intervals, but they don't seem too dark or heavy, even the ones with distortion.

I'd made a number of changes to how the patch handles buffers, but those didn't make an audible difference to this week. One thing you will hear, though, is that I made a mistake in setting the regeneration value toward the end of the fifth piece, and then just kept hammering on that same mistake as as an aesthetic choice. I think it works here.
