about

This week's performance...seems full of gentle, enveloping long tones. These improvisations feel as though they emerged in response to our continually alarming and infuriating news cycle--a response of choosing a gentleness in which we take care of ourselves, rather than acting while we're depleted. It's music for the necessary yin side of the yin/yang cycle, I guess. Action is good and necessary, but so is self-care. So I offer this in that spirit.

Shortly before this week's performance, I thought of using the Moog Guitar with longer delay times. Usually when I use the Moog, the long sustain (really the point of this instrument) fills up the delay lines and leads to very dense work. With the longer delay lines, the long sustain of the Moog wasn't as overwhelming, though there are still plenty of long notes, particularly with the cistern reverb. This one seems to breathe a bit more.

Thank you for listening!
