about

I didn't perform on March 22, as my father had entered hospice for a short time before embarking on his next voyage. The work of understanding and processing grief and loss continues to unfold, and I've been fortunate to have overwhelming support from family, friends, and colleagues.

Part of the work of understanding (for me, anyway) involves keeping a regular appointment with music. In order for this to work, I have to defocus my attention, so that it's not on myself or anything in particular, really, and then...music appears, and can be followed. This session from the 29th is an example of that--to me, it sounds comforting and accepting, suggesting a way forward.

Many of us have endured losses in this past year, and for anyone who has, I hope this series can provide some comfort. Thank you for listening!
