about

With this, the second week after a break, I think I'm still finding the music again. If I do the same thing a few weeks in a row...my expectations for consistency seem to get in the way. What works better is to make some destabilizing change to keep me aware of however the music might want to enter.

This week, I made a few changes to the patch--hiding unused buffers, adding multi-channel VST processing, cleaning up some memory use things--and a quick test suggested that this improvisation might want fretted instruments, tuned to wider ranges than E9. The performance happened in a couple blocks, the first four using the standard-tuned PureSalem Mendiola, and the second four using a Univox Effie I keep in dropped Fahey C tuning (actually B) for a deeper voice.

The moods of this one inevitably reflect my own state, beginning with a minor key and feelings of sadness and loss, and then gradually moving attention outward, to other people and places, and finding things to sustain us. I hope that you'll also experience that positive effect as well.

Thank you for listening!
