about

In a long series of performances like this one, the challenge of keeping things fresh is constantly present. Week to week, I'll usually change which guitar I'm using, to change sound and technique. Sometimes, it's less of a concern--maybe the music presents itself easily, but in other performances, I have to do more work.

If I'm in a more musically generous period, it seems better to end it early, rather than persist to a deep trough at the end. Deliberately changing some fundamental part of my approach seems to be the most helpful.

This week, I used a wider set of time scales on the delays--some relatively short (under 10 seconds), some going up to 40s or so. Other performances have clustered in the 20-40s range, related by larger divisors, but this one uses larger differences between the delay lines. Maybe none of this is audible, but it gives a different character, I think.

To everyone who's joined the live streams, or streamed or downloaded here, thank you for listening!
