about

This is the 90th performance in this series. We've made it to December together. This month can be a challenge for a lot of people, so I hope you're well and able to find peace and comfort.

Over the last few weeks, I seem to have strained muscles in my left arm in a way that makes some conventional fretting painful. As a precaution, I stayed with the pedal steel for the third week in a row, trying some slightly different approaches to give this performance its own flavor. The steel invites playing with closer intervals, allowing tone beating. There's also some influence from Alvin Lucier, incorporating those intervals and letting long tones be themselves.

This week brought a larger audience, also, and it was wonderful to have their presence supporting these slower pieces. Thank you for listening!

Dedicated to the work of Gordon Matta-Clark.
