With some improvisations, while I'm performing, I know exactly how things are going--how things will sound, how the structure is shaping up, the mood, how spacious or dense the piece will be. This week, I had no sense of any of those things while performing, and I was very pleasantly surprised when listening back today. Despite my initial plans to do something very sparse, the performance built itself on long, sustained tones and unexpected resonances between the harmonics of the opinionated Moog Guitar and the resonant frequencies of the impulse reverbs.

So what does it sound like? There's a very quiet-winter-night, slow-moving quality to this one--maybe slower than usual. It's an environment for contemplation, particularly if you need some quiet around you. This performance is dedicated to the work of Roni Horn.
