about

Starting an artistic practice in a pandemic has been helpful--certainly to me, and also apparently to others. Continuing it during a war may seem frivolous, but it's important to give people a way to alleviate their anxiety. As I come up on two years of this series, I intend to keep going however I can, through whatever crises emerge--and as they do, my attention has been on them.

As a performer, I've been struggling to direct my attention to where the music is available. Sometimes I'm chasing music around, and sometimes it might not enter the room. Sometimes it's right here, and I'll miss it by looking over there. This week, however, was different. I went back to a guitar and tuning I last used in week 67, and attention and music came together.

Crises and horrors are real, though. I've decided to donate this month's proceeds to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy's Ukraine relief effort.

This week's improvisations are dedicated to the work of Man Ray. Thank you for listening!
