about

This performance was intuitive--I'd had some plans, which I immediately abandoned on starting the performance, preferring to live in the moment for the next hour and a half. My experience as the player was more sonically busy than the final result. This is particularly true with the hollowbody guitar, which is always going to produce acoustic sound in the room.

It's difficult to get a sense of these pieces until I listen back to the recordings. The pieces turned out to be sparser than I'd thought. They also have a meditative sense, a soundtrack for observing eternity. (Even if that's not what you're doing, this should go with it.)

Wherever you are, I hope you're taking good care of yourself! Thank you for listening!

This week's improvisation is dedicated to the work of Ode Bertrand.
