about

This performance uses some extended techniques to get a few different timbres out of the pedal steel: stopping strings with wooden discs, stainless steel ice cubes, string ends, and a singing bowl wand in addition to the usual wood and steel slides. You can hear it most on the first and last pieces, though some of them use different techniques on nearly every new note. Whether it's strongly audible now or not, it's valuable to find new ways of doing things, to continue our journeys.

Wherever you are, I hope you're taking care of yourself and treating yourself well. This week's performance is dedicated to the work of Alberto Biasi. Thank you for listening!
